Inclusion in Action: 9 Skills for Communicating and Collaborating Across Differences

The Inclusion in Action eLearning course was designed to teach and inspire participants to practice 9 Inclusive Skills for communicating and collaborating more effectively across differences of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age, language and more. These skills not only interrupt common patterns of thought and behavior, but also provide new ways of thinking, speaking and acting. This encourages greater openness, transparency and collaboration, all of which are critical to the success of an organization. The Skills can be easily integrated into your Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training curriculum, or they can be used as foundational guidelines for DEI and general HR initiatives.

Inclusion in Action was created in partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance and is based on the work of Dr. Valerie Batts, Executive Director at VISIONS Consulting. The course has been recognized with a Telly Award and a Brandon Hall Excellence Award for "Best Inclusion and Diversity Strategy."
It was also honored as the winner of the 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year by the U.S. Insurance Awards. Inclusion in Action is divided into nine modules, one for each of the 9 Skills. There is a tenth module at the end for review and reflection. We recommend that learners digest one module at a time as opposed to powering through the entire course in one sitting.

This award-winning course, which meets high standards of accessibility, includes an engaging combination of video scenarios, activities, exercises and a PDF takeaway to ground learners' understanding.
The goal of the Inclusion in Action series is to learn 9 Skills for inclusion in order to interrupt one's common patterns of thought and behavior, which are often influenced by unconscious biases.

"Inclusion in Action eLearning not only brings attention to inclusion as a necessary leadership skill, it teaches skills that everyone in an organization can learn and practice. Best of all, the vignettes are realistic and really grab your attention."
Gerry Fernandez, President and Founder. Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance (MFHA)
"These 9 Skills are game changers. We can find talented people and bring them in, but if we don't create an environment where we hear every single voice then what good does it do us if we're not going to listen to them? And the only way for us to listen and hear is for us to be inclusive of everyone's style, their thoughts."
Myrna L. Estrada, SVP, Field Executive, Central Region, Liberty Mutual
"This interactive, skills-based eLearning program is powerful, both in content and methodology. Inclusion in Action’s modular format provides flexibility. You can concentrate the learning for quick impact. Or roll it out over time, progressively building communication and collaboration skills while supporting a consistent Inclusion message in your organization."
Leslie Aguilar, CEO, Diversity and Inclusion Center, Author, Ouch! That Stereotype Hurts
